How Videt Works

Complete guide to the local-first, zero-cloud media studio

This page explains every part of Videt in detail. Use the links below to jump to a section, or scroll through the whole guide.

What Videt Is

Videt is a private, local-first desktop media studio. Every operation — screen capture, downloading, editing, GPU effects, and file transfer — runs entirely on your computer in the ADGE desktop browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, nothing is stored in the cloud, and nothing leaves your machine unless you explicitly export or send it.

Zero-Cloud, Zero-Trace Privacy

Recordings are held only in volatile RAM (memory) while you work. There is no cloud account, no remote database, and no telemetry that sends your media anywhere. If you leave the playback page or close the browser without pressing the Do Not Self Destruct button, your recording is wiped immediately — there is no countdown, no grace period, and no recoverable copy remains. The only thing that ever persists on disk is the MP4 file you deliberately choose to save.

Screen Recorder & Background Player Capture

Start a capture from the Recorder page. Choose a Target Window from the dropdown — the native ADGE shell uses Windows.Graphics.Capture to capture only that target player window, even when it is fully covered or hidden behind other windows. Toggle Automated Video Crop to isolate the precise X, Y, Width, and Height of an active HTML video element inside the target window. You can also include system / loopback audio. Press Stop Recording to finish.

Direct Local Downloader

Paste a standard video URL or an HLS stream manifest path (.m3u8), optionally type a custom label in the Pre-Download Filename field, then press Fetch & Buffer-to-Disk. The custom filename is intercepted and locked in before any network operation launches, so the saved file uses your exact name. Stream chunks are processed entirely in local machine RAM and written directly to your Windows hard drive. No cloud relay and no server-side copy. Cross-origin sources must permit direct fetch; otherwise use the Recorder.

Playback & MP4 Export

On the Playback page you watch your recording and either save it or let it self-destruct. Choose 720p or 1024p MP4, then press Do Not Self Destruct to re-encode locally to a standard H.264/AAC MP4 file and save it directly to your drive, with a bottom progress bar showing render progress. If you leave without pressing it, the recording is gone the instant you navigate away.

Pro Timeline & Frame Editor

The Editor is a client-side multi-track timeline. Load a video file with Load Video, or press Use Recording to pull a fresh capture straight from the Recorder into the timeline without touching disk. Place a playhead and use Split / Cut to split video segments, then rearrange or delete individual clips. Step forward or backward exactly one frame at a time. Insert Frame uploads a local static image at the playhead position; Remove Frame deletes the selected frame. Reverse Clip flips the frame sequence playback array locally in memory. A Crop & Resize panel adjusts Trim Top, Trim Bottom, Trim Left, and Trim Right over a live WebGL preview canvas, and the GPU effects panel sits beside it for real-time shader grading.

GPU Video Effects (Local)

Practical GPU shader effects replace the old animation filters. Load a video into the GPU Effects page to see a live WebGL preview, then adjust the shader stack in real time. Cinematic Color Grading offers Cinematic Warm, Monochrome, and Cyberpunk Blue tint matrices. Smart Background Blur applies a Gaussian shader to outer borders or background margins. The Lighting & Gamma Equalizer provides hardware-accelerated Exposure, Shadow Lift, and Contrast sliders. All effects run as fragment shaders on your local GPU, and you can export the graded video to a local MP4 straight from the same page.

Local Export Pipeline

Export uses local ffmpeg.wasm mapping to bake the temporal timeline edits (cuts, reversals, frame updates), spatial trimming parameters (-vf crop dimensions), and WebGL canvas shader effects directly into an optimized local MP4 container, exporting straight to the Windows file system. A real-time canvas encoder is used as a local fallback when ffmpeg.wasm is unavailable.

P2P File Transfer

Transfer large files directly between machines over WebRTC data channels. The sender generates a connection code, the receiver pastes it and returns an answer code, and the file streams peer-to-peer with live progress, speed, and ETA telemetry. There is no relay server in the path — the data goes straight from your computer to the recipient's.

Multi-Peer Mesh Swarming

Embedded WebRTC DataChannels allow simultaneous P2P mesh network communication. The sender can add multiple peers — each gets its own handshake code — and the selected file streams to every connected peer at the same time. Per-peer progress bars track each link independently, so one slow peer never blocks the others.

Dynamic Network Interruption Resumption

Hardware connection monitoring loops tied to ICE connection-state properties watch every peer link in real time. If your Wi-Fi drops or switches networks, the transfer pauses seamlessly, locks progress in cache, and resumes automatically from the exact byte offset without starting over. The receiver acknowledges its cached offset so the sender skips ahead — no duplicate data, no restart.

NUKED — Secure Video Viewer

NUKED is a privacy-hardened video viewer that protects sensitive footage with four overlapping security systems. From the homepage, click the NUKED link (above How To Use Videt) to open it. The top-left Back to Videt link returns you to the homepage at any time.

Loading a Video into NUKED

Press Load Video and choose any video file from your hard drive. The file is held in volatile RAM as an object URL — nothing is written to disk or cloud. The player area shows a decoy image by default; the video itself is never visible until you actively reveal it. The loaded filename appears below the player.

Hold-to-Reveal (Dual-Gate Switch)

The sensitive video only plays while you physically hold the reveal gate. On a PC, press and hold the ENTER key down — the video appears and plays the entire time the key is pinned. On a touch device, press and hold anywhere on the player area. The microsecond you release the key or lift your finger, the video element is instantly swapped out and the decoy background image takes its place. Releasing does not count as a security strike — it is just a normal hide. Press again to resume.

Decoy Background System

Instead of a black screen, NUKED renders a full-screen decoy image whenever the video is hidden. The default decoy mimics a boring text-document workspace so a passing glance reveals nothing unusual. Press Upload Custom Decoy to substitute your own screenshot (a puppy, a project, anything) — it is saved locally and used as the decoy for every future hide until you upload a new one.

Webcam Look-Away Kill Switch

Press Enable Webcam Guard to activate the front-camera monitor. While the guard is active and a video is revealed, NUKED runs real-time face-mesh detection on your webcam feed. If your head yaw or pitch turns beyond 15 degrees, or if more than one face is counted in the frame, the video stream is instantly dropped, the playback RAM cache source string is revoked and cleared, and the decoy background is displayed. This counts as a security strike. The guard only checks while you are actively holding/revealing — when the decoy is showing there is nothing to protect.

Two-Strike Auto-Wipe Rule

Each look-away breach or security-parameter failure increments the strike counter (shown in the status panel). On the second strike during a single viewing session, NUKED instantly clears all local storage session keys and hard-reloads the entire browser page to a lockout screen. The lockout screen has a Back to Nuke Page link that returns you to a fresh, clean session. Loading a new video resets the strike counter to zero.

Android Phone — NUKED Only

On an Android phone, Videt exposes only the NUKED feature. Open the app on an Android phone and you will see the NUKED mobile interface — no recorder, editor, effects, downloader, or transfer tools are available on a phone. A notice at the bottom of the mobile screen reminds you that all other Videt features require a desktop PC (Windows or Linux) running the ADGE browser. iPhone, iPad, and other tablets show the standard desktop-only landing page with a copyable link.

Sending a Nuke from an Android Phone

Tap Send Nuke, then pick any video from your phone. Videt generates a nuke code — copy it and send it to the receiver (text, chat, any way you like). The receiver pastes that code on their Android phone, accepts the nuke, and sends back an answer code. Paste their answer code into the Step 2 field and press Accept Answer & Send. Once the WebRTC link connects, the video streams straight to the receiver's phone — no cloud relay. A progress bar shows delivery, and network interruptions lock progress in cache and resume automatically from the exact byte offset.

Receiving a Nuke on an Android Phone

Tap Receive Nuke and paste the sender's nuke code, then press Accept Nuke. Videt generates an answer code — copy it and send it back to the sender to confirm you agree to accept the nuke. Once the sender applies your answer code, the video streams peer-to-peer to your phone. When the transfer completes, the secure viewer opens automatically.

Viewing a Received Nuke Securely

A received nuke opens in the full NUKED secure viewer. The player shows a decoy image by default — the video is never visible until you actively reveal it. Press and hold anywhere on the player to reveal and play the video; the instant you lift your finger, the video is swapped out and the decoy image returns. Press Enable Guard to turn on the front-camera face-mesh monitor: while you are holding/revealing, if your head turns beyond 15 degrees or more than one face is detected, the video is dropped and the decoy is shown — that counts as a security strike. Press Custom Decoy to upload your own screenshot as the hide background. Two strikes in one session triggers an auto-wipe and lockout screen, just like the desktop NUKED viewer.

Desktop Only

Videt is built for desktop PCs (Windows or Linux) running the ADGE browser. On a phone or tablet you will see a landing page with a copyable link — text it to yourself and open it on a desktop computer to start recording.
